Five Simple Steps to Healing Your Gut

·

Let's face it. Many people do not realize the importance of prioritizing one's gut health. It's something that is not often talked about, and many also fail to realize that it only takes simple shifts to get on the right track to heal one's gut naturally. Listed below are five steps that break down exactly how to start the healing process of the gut. These may seem simple, but they truly make the biggest difference!

Step 1: Remove

Remove anything that could be negatively impacting your gut, such as:

  • Inflammatory foods (think gluten, processed foods, refined sugars, etc)
  • Dairy (for some)
  • Excess alcohol consumption
  • Stress

Step 2: Replace

Replace the factors that are lacking with:

  • Nutrient-dense foods: healthy fats, proteins, veggies, etc
  • Digestive enzymes, such as our Eat Your Heart Out enzymes
  • Fiber: opt for 25g per day; you can get in foods such as avocado, oatmeal, raspberries, lentils, chia seeds, pears, artichokes, apples, beans, almonds
  • Vitamins/supplements: zinc, Vitamin C, Vitamin D

Step 3: Reinoculate

This means introducing more good bacteria into the gut! Here's what to include:

  • Probiotics: aka, the good bacteria that fight the bad ones! Gut Goals is great for this.
  • Prebiotics: helps strengthen the good bacteria that are already found in the gut; we find in foods such as asparagus, onion, garlic, artichoke, whole grains, and bananas

Step 4: Repair

Heal and seal your gut with the following foods, supplements, and lifestyle factors:

  • L-Glutamine
  • Collagen peptides
  • Fiber
  • Better sleep
  • Stress reduction techniques such as meditating, journaling, exercise, etc

Step 5: Reintroduce

If you gave up things to heal your gut, you can slowly reintroduce them back into your diet once your stomach starts to feel back on track. Gut healing protocol isn't aimed to last forever, life is all about balance! Remember to enjoy your favorite 'not so healthy' foods in whatever way works best for you :)

It's as easy as that to make the lifestyle switch to prioritize your gut health, love! Please do remember that everyone's gut health journey looks different; what works for us might not be what works for you. These are merely guidelines to place you on the right path to achieving all of your health goals. We are rooting for you!
